Congratulations John Ilzhoefer, Distinguished Rifleman!

Member, John Ilzhoefer is the latest Texan to complete the task of becoming a Distinguished Rifleman, something he finished on the biggest shooting stage in the country, The National Matches at Camp Perry. This prestigious award which dates back to the 1880’s has only been earned by approximately 2,100 civilians. Congratulations, John!

The Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club had winners at the National Matches.

This summer at the National Matches at Camp Perry Ohio the Texas state rifle team came away with another big win.
The team, with the help of TRPC club member John Ilzhoefer and frequent club competitor Daryl Melkert had
the overall win in the National Trophy Infantry Team Match. Along with the overall win they were also awarded the
Leatherneck Trophy for high civilian score.

The match is all rapid-fire with a six-man team starting at six hundred yards and stopping at five hundred, three hundred
and two hundred yards for fifty seconds of firing at silhouette targets.

This match has come to be called the Rattle Battle because of the rapid nature of the shooting.
